Rouble (1704). Moscow, Red mint. 28.31 gm. Bit 797 (R), Diakov 8, Sev 152 (R), Uzd 0464 (R). Overstruck on uncertain European Taler, remnants of the host clear. Russia’s first Roubles, the issues of 1704 and 1705, were overstruck on european crowns. A careful effort, though, was made to obliterate the host and carefully strike up the new coins designs.
